General Job InformationThe Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) is a cabinet-level agency within the District of Columbia government, committed to the safety, permanence, and well-being of children and families residing in the District of Columbia. Charged with protecting child victims and those at risk of abuse and neglect, CFSA fosters collaborations within its administrations to deliver exceptional family-focused services to the community and its residents.This position is located in the Development and Equity Administration (ODEA), Office of the Deputy Director for Planning, Policy, and Program Support (ODDPPPS), Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA). The Office is approved by the District of Columbia Board of Social Work as a continuing education provider for licensed social workers in the District.The Trainer is a licensed clinical Social Worker responsible for curricula development and facilitation who will provide informed education to social workers, resource parents, and other child welfare and non­child welfare professionals.Duties And ResponsibilitiesWorks as a Trainer in the Development and Equity Administration (ODEA), Office of the Deputy Director for Planning, Policy, and program Support (ODDPPPS), Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA), responsible for providing administrative and technical support.Conducts training classes, instructional workshops and seminars that focus on competency based training and job skill application, consistent with the Child and Family Services Agency's (CFSA) policy and best practice methodology. Collaborates with the Training Administrator, Program Manager, and program staff to develop the training Curriculum. Reviews course evaluation summaries and modifies presentation content as needed. Assists in the development with and revision of training curricula; leads in the development and revision as required. Develops task-based performance orientated course curricula and lesson plans, designed to achieve maximum pa1iicipant development and task competencies. Expands and/or modifies training material and course content to address the diversity and proficiency levels of participants. Conducts course work training based on a variety of instructional strategies, aids, policy, Prepares written and demonstrative instructional material which incorporates a variety of Utilizes agency policy and guidelines to evaluate, measure and document participant/student progress through written examinations or developmental activities. Monitors participant/student progress and consults with program staff to access the nexus between instruction and subsequent job performance. Maintains the confidentiality of the information relative to performance results of training and future training rece1iification dates as required of social workers. Maintains up-to-date records and files on all social work training material related to work assignments and instructional programs. Presents oral and written reports describing instructional programs and reports. Recommends administrative and operational proposals for new instructional programs, workshops, seminars and classes to meet standards for CFSA guidelines. Attends agency meetings by the Training Administrator as required. QualificationsThorough knowledge of best practices in child welfare, substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health, cultural competence and adult education principles and techniques, as evidenced by a Master of Social Work degree. Thorough knowledge of social work principles and practices and the requirements of the Counsel of Social Work Education. Thorough knowledge of best practices in social work, mental health and child welfare and ability to teach based on knowledge and experience in child welfare. Thorough knowledge of the structure, function and mission of CFSA to provide instruction consistent with established best practices training goals and objectives. Thorough knowledge of instructional methodologies, to include various media resources. Thorough knowledge of student program testing and the evaluation process. Thorough knowledge of the preparation of written and instructional materials. Ability to interact with diverse individuals to promote an optimum learning-training environment. General knowledge of adult learning theory; adult education principles and applied practices to classroom training; transfer of learning theory and practice; and ability to utilize child welfare training curricula that provides instruction consistent with modeling best practices standards. Maintains up-to-date knowledge on new theories, concepts and procedures relevant to the Social Workers' requirements. General knowledge of computers, audiovisual requirements and other training aides. Ability to train agency social workers and resource parents and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Performs other related duties as required. Licensure/CertificationNoneEducationMust have a graduate degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.Work ExperienceMust possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 12 level in the District of Columbia government service or its non-District equivalent. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position including, but are not limited to, demonstrable advanced comprehensive knowledge of the principles of adult learning to training development and delivery including engaging learners to identify their own learning needs; helping trainees set personal learning objectives; drawing on and incorporating trainees' past experiences and expertise; using experiential and interactive training techniques; helping trainees apply training content to their jobs; and creating practice opportunities during the training session; or other similar professional duties.Other Significant FactorsPromotion Potential: No known promotion potentialCollective Bargaining Unit: This position is covered under the collective bargaining unit.Work Conditions/Environment: The work is performed in an office setting.
