No matter where you are in your journey, Luminate Bank® is here to support you every step of the way.Position Overview: The VP – Mortgage Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations for the bank’s mortgage activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and applicable mortgage regulations. This role manages accounting staff, supports month‑end and year‑end close processes, and partners closely with finance, funding, servicing, and secondary market teams.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & Financial ReportingReview and approve journal entries and purchase invoices.Ensure accurate accounting for loan originations, sales, servicing, warehouse lines, escrow, and related fees.Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory guidance, and internal accounting policies.Mortgage & Loan Accounting OversightOversee reconciliation of warehouse lines, clearing accounts, and loan‑level balances.Partner with funding, secondary, and servicing teams to resolve loan accounting discrepancies.Support interim servicing and sub‑servicer accounting and reporting.Internal Controls & ComplianceMaintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.Support internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and due diligence requests.Ensure timely and accurate documentation in support of audits and examinations.Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.People Management & LeadershipSupervise, coach, and develop accounting staff.Review work product to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.Process Improvement & ProjectsIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.Support special projects, ad‑hoc reporting, and management initiatives as needed.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in mortgage lending.2+ years of people management or team‑lead experience preferred.Experience with mortgage loan accounting, warehouse lines, or financial services is strongly preferred.Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.Experience supporting audits and regulatory examinations.High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross‑functionally.Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; mortgage systems experience a plus.Familiarity with mortgage and banking activities.BenefitsCompetitive compensation reliant on ability and experienceExcellent benefits package including health, pre tax HSA, FSA accounts and dental & visionLife and AD&D Insurance, as well as additional voluntary benefit possibilities401K with robust company matchFlexible PTO programEarned Sick & Safe Time (ESST)The opportunity to work for the Midwest’s fastest growing bank
