Business Analyst / Product Owner
Role: Product Owner / Business Systems Analyst Location: NYC (Hybrid) ResponsibilitiesStrategy and PlanningCollaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and visionClearly identify project stakeholders and establish user classes, as well as their characteristicsConduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methodsIdentify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirementsResearch, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processesAcquisition and DeploymentAssist in conducting research on software and hardware products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing effortsParticipate in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimizedParticipate in the selection of any requirements documentation software solutions that the organization may opt to useOperational ManagementAnalyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standardsDevelop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specificationsTranslate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project teamWhere applicable, help develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on the user requirementsCreate process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project teamDevelop and conduct peer reviews of the business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpretedAssist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options, and communicate these backs to the business stakeholdersManage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessaryCommunicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements– verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understoodMay provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff membersKnowledge, Skills & ExperienceCollege diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or management information systems5-8 years related work experienceExperience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or productsWorking technical knowledge of 2 programming languagesPractical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow chartsExperience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and mainframe applicationsPractical knowledge of project management skillsGood understanding of the organization’s goals and objectivesExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentGood analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skillsGood written and oral communication skillsGood listening and interpersonal skillsLogical and efficient Keen attention to detailAbility to conduct research into systems issues and products as requiredAbility to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly languageSelf-motivated and directedStrong customer service orientation
