This role serves as a key connector between employers and workforce solutions, delivering innovative, high-impact training that helps companies grow and compete.The Director collaborates with new, expanding, and existing businesses to design and implement customized training programs, manage budgets, and ensure effective, results-driven outcomes. This position reports to the Dean of Business & Industry Solutions and plays a vital role in advancing workforce development and community success.Teleworking:Upon completion of nine months of employment with Vance Granville Community College, this position will be eligible for one day of telework per week.Salary:VGCC considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; and internal peer equity in offer calculations.The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.Identify education and training needs for businesses and industries and develop programs to meet those needsMonitor progress of projects by reviewing completed tasks, ensuring that deadlines are met and that any needed changes are madeWorks as liaison between NCCCS, the college and local industryWorks closely with the Regional Director of NCEdge Customized TrainingWorks with other continuing education staff to develop, plan and offer comprehensive workforce development programs for business and industryCoordinate the unit's activities by recommending goals and objectives and assisting in the development and implementation of policies and proceduresForecasts funding needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies for each training program; submits and projects proposals for expenditures and monitors and controls expenditures.Participates in professional development activities, such as workshops, seminars and conferences related to program areas.Represents VGCC positively to the community, business and industry and the media.Evaluates instructors, course content, and overall program performance.Serves on various college committees, local and business associations and task forces to promote the program.Provides training consultation to ensure all industry partners are aware of NCEdge customized training services and their needs are understood and met.Maintains database of all industry in service area.Collaborate with community leaders and agencies to assist with the recruitment of new business and industry.Participates in instructor training programs, where applicable and of interest, to earn credentials needed to instruct selected classes.Provides coaching for instructors based on observations and student feedback.Prepares and submits all required reports and documentation to ensure program approvals and financial reimbursements.Ensures compliance with state requirements for the NCEdge Customized Training program.Participates in community activities/programs and works with local and state agencies that further the economic development of the service area and promote the mission and vision of the college.Markets NCEdge Customized Training program and other VGCC programs to the business and industry community, as well as, the general public.Facilitate meetings and workshops and conduct training sessionsPerforms other duties as assigned by the Dean of Business & Industry Solutions.Bachelor's DegreeTwo years' experience developing collaborative partnerships to further economic or workforce development and developing training systems to support workforce, preferably supporting business and industry.A valid driver's license and reliable transportation required, to travel regularly to companies and business located throughout the service area and surrounding region.Experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, economic development, or other industry-facing environments with an understanding of manufacturing settings is strongly preferred.Competency in office computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheet design and presentation software.Demonstrated experience utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for tracking business engagement, project management, reporting, and performance outcomes.Ability and initiative to organize and manage multiple projects and budgets with limited direct supervisionSuperior customer service, specifically related to assessing business needs and crafting tailored solutions to improve their business outcomesAbility to broker training resources such as recruiting and developing potential instructors and procuring training materialsAbility to monitor training programs and assess their effectiveness.Excellent organizational skills, excellent time management skills, effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to ensure strong rapport and collaborative relationship with industry customersAbility to work as a collegial, productive member of high performing teamsLight work that includes moving objects up to 25 pounds.Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
