About The RoleAt Autopoiesis Sciences, we're building the foundation for scientific superintelligence, AI that can autonomously advance knowledge across every scientific discipline. We're first developing an AI co-scientist that applies the same systematic doubt and verification that drives human scientific breakthroughs, establishing the reasoning capabilities necessary for true scientific autonomy. This represents the critical first stage toward systems that can eventually operate laboratories autonomously, design their own research programs, and pursue discoveries beyond human imagination. Backed by leading venture capital firms and with thousands of scientists from top universities already requesting early access, we're currently preparing to release our AI co-scientist to the scientific community.Technical Focus AreasLarge-scale data processing and knowledge graph constructionRegulatory compliance and standardization frameworksScientific data integration from unstructured sourcesAutomated relationship mapping and entity resolutionSearch and retrieval systems for complex scientific datasetsAPI development for scientific workflow integrationPerformance optimization for high-throughput data processingAutopoiesis Sciences is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to help build the technical infrastructure that powers the foundation for scientific superintelligence. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing robust, scalable systems that can ingest, process, and structure scientific data at massive scale. You'll work on critical data systems that enable our AI to understand and reason about complex scientific relationships, substance properties, and regulatory information. Our technical staff operates with high standards for code quality, system reliability, and performance optimization.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement large-scale data processing pipelines that can handle diverse scientific datasets and transform unstructured information into structured knowledge representationsBuild and maintain robust APIs and integration systems that support regulatory workflows, safety monitoring, and research applications while ensuring compliance with established industry standardsDevelop automated systems for entity resolution, relationship mapping, and data enrichment that can intelligently connect disparate sources of scientific informationCreate high-performance search and retrieval systems optimized for complex scientific queries and real-time data access patternsImplement comprehensive data validation, quality assurance, and monitoring systems to ensure accuracy and reliability of processed scientific informationCollaborate with domain scientists and regulatory experts to understand technical requirements and translate them into scalable software solutionsOptimize system performance across the full stack, from database design to API response times, ensuring systems can handle enterprise-scale workloadsQualificationsProven experience building production-scale distributed systems with focus on computational infrastructure, system architecture, and performance optimizationStrong engineering skills in modern programming languages (Python, Java, or similar) with emphasis on writing maintainable, well-tested codeDeep experience with system design, distributed architectures, and optimization for high-performance computational workloadsBackground in scientific computing, computational sciences, or technical systems with understanding of complex domain requirementsExperience with API design, microservices architecture, and building systems that integrate with existing technical workflowsDemonstrated ability to work with complex system architectures, performance optimization, and scalability challengesStrong understanding of distributed systems, caching strategies, and scaling computational infrastructureFamiliarity with machine learning infrastructure, computational pipelines, or evaluation systems is a plus but not requiredMinimum of 4 years of relevant software engineering experience with track record of delivering production systemsAdvanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferredCompensation And BenefitsCompetitive compensation, equity, and benefitsCollaborate in building a thoughtful, mission-driven team culture focused on scientific discoveryFrequent team events, dinners, off-sites, and gatheringsCompensation packages are highly variable based on experience, expertise, and contribution potential.
