CNC Applications Engineer

Overview As CNC Applications Engineer, you act as the technical authority for high-precision turning applications, supporting quoting, process design, and manufacturing optimization. You partner with sales, operations, and quality to translate customer requirements into scalable machining solutions. You will focus on design and validation of repeatable, efficient processes and robust programming strategies, driving continuous improvement across production. This fully onsite role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and impactful projects that shape manufacturability and quality. ResponsibilitiesAnalyze customer prints and specs to develop machining strategies for quoting, including process flow, tooling approach, cycle-time assumptions, and labor inputsDevelop, validate, and refine CNC turning processes with emphasis on repeatability, efficiency, and manufacturabilityCreate, review, and optimize CNC programs, support standards and best practices for robust tooling and throughputProvide advanced technical support for complex setup, programming, or process issues as an escalation pointIdentify opportunities to reduce cycle time, tooling costs, and secondary operations through process design and technologyDefine tooling, collet, and workholding solutions to enable efficient, scalable productionCollaborate with Quality to establish inspection strategies and process controls for tight tolerancesparticipate in cross-functional discussions across engineering, operations, quality, and commercial teams to support manufacturability and customer successFully onsite work environment with strong interdepartmental interaction Key requirements7+ years of experience supporting CNC turning in a precision manufacturing environment with a strong applications or process-engineering focusAdvanced knowledge of CNC programming principles (G-code) and CAM systemsStrong understanding of CNC machine controls, servo systems, and mechanical fundamentalsExperience supporting Swiss-style or high-precision turning platformsHigh mathematical and analytical aptitudeAbility to guide shop-floor teams with technical leadership and problem resolutionMust meet employment eligibility and background requirementsCross-functional collaborationAnalytical mindsetProblem solving under complex constraintsG-code programmingCAM systemsCNC turning processes
