Benefits Manager
A well-established and growing organization is seeking a Benefits Manager to join its Human Resources team in Los Angeles. This role will lead the strategic design, execution, and ongoing optimization of all employee benefit programs across the organization.This is a high-impact position responsible for ensuring competitive, compliant, and cost-effective benefits offerings that support employee well-being and align with broader business objectives. Experience managing self-funded and/or self-insured benefit plans is required.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a multi-year benefits strategy aligned with organizational goals and budgetLead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of all employee benefit programs, including self-funded and/or self-insured plansEnsure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable federal and state regulationsManage vendor relationships including RFP processes, contract negotiations, and performance oversightOversee benefits budgeting, forecasting, and executive-level reporting and analyticsCreate and deliver employee communications, plan summaries, and benefits education initiativesPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, HRIS, Legal, and external advisors to ensure accuracy and efficiencyMonitor legislative and regulatory changes, recommending updates to programs and policies as neededDrive operational excellence through automation, process standardization, and enhanced employee experienceSupport additional HR initiatives and projects as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited university requiredHands-on experience managing self-funded and/or self-insured health and welfare plans is requiredDeep expertise in benefits strategy, plan design, funding approaches, and cost containmentStrong knowledge of employment, benefits, leave, and disability regulationsAdvanced analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel and Microsoft OfficeExperience with HRIS and financial systems (UKG and Great Plains preferred)Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiativesProven leadership, project management, and change management experience
