About The RoleWe are seeking a Principal Data Analyst to join our Data Services and Offshore Software team. This role is central to delivering advanced data analysis services while also leading the scoping of Integrated Marine Monitoring Systems, from data acquisition to software and product delivery. You will collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure project goals are met and partner with clients to develop tailored solutions for unique integrity challenges, particularly in the offshore oil, gas, and wind energy sectors.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex projects, driving product development, and providing in-depth data analysis. This associate principal-level role supports project success, data insights, and client engagement as part of our expanding portfolio of marine monitoring solutions.Duties / ResponsibilitiesThe Principal Date Analyst duties will include, but may not be limited to: Data Analytics & Insights Perform advanced data analysis focused on asset health, leveraging automation, data transformation, and both spectral and time-domain analysis. Lead data processing, failure event interpretation, strength and fatigue assessments, and predictive analytics. Work closely with clients to provide actionable insights and customized solutions for unique integrity challenges. Client Engagement & Problem Solving Engage with clients to understand and scope project requirements, ensuring alignment with their asset integrity needs. Act as a trusted advisor, delivering high-quality data analysis solutions and guidance on best practices for monitoring. Cloud and Digital Transformation Lead and support cloud-based data services including building prototypes, version controlling, data engineering. Contribute to the development and optimization of digital solutions that integrate the latest in data science and machine learning. Project Delivery Management Drive project planning, scope definition, and management for integrated marine monitoring systems, emphasizing data acquisition, installation, and commissioning. Ensure seamless project execution by collaborating with engineering, production, and service teams. Coordinate with systems and service teams for the deployment and commissioning of offshore monitoring solutions for oil & gas and wind sectors. Product Development & Innovation Partner with hardware, software, and technology teams to lead product development, focusing on sensor technology, firmware integration, and software for data processing.Guide the product lifecycle from concept and testing through production and deployment, ensuring regulatory compliance and field readiness.Location & Flexibility: In terms of location, we have office in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid role but at times requires to be in the office. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required. This role is a full-time position.About YouEducation and Work ExperienceRequired Master of Science Degree in Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering or related field, or in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 5 years (advanced knowledge) experience in statistical analysis (time series and statistics) of marine data, data archiving and database managementDesired Demonstrated experience writing regular and specialized technical reports, plus conference papers relevant to data analysis of offshore monitoring systems Experience in the offshore or marine industry is considered a plusSkills/Abilities/Knowledge Demonstrated experience in all the following: Programming in Python, Matlab, Spark Experience in AI/ML including ANNs, LLMs Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with emphasis in graphics capabilities and creating macros Demonstrated experience writing regular and special technical reports is required, experience in writing conference papers relevant to data analysis of offshore monitoring systems is preferred Ability to present and effectively communicate written reports on a technical level to clients and staff in meeting settingsAbout BMTWe exist to navigate the most important and impactful engineering challenges of our time.
