Assistant Controller / Senior AccountantOnsite | Houston, TX | $95,000–$115,000A growing engineering and manufacturing‑focused organization in the oil and gas sector is seeking a hands‑on Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant to take ownership of day‑to‑day accounting operations as the current Controller transitions toward retirement. This is a 100% onsite role and a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a small business environment and wants meaningful ownership and visibility.What You Will DoAccounting & FinanceManage full‑cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and financial reportingLead the month‑end close process and produce accurate, timely financial statementsMaintain and analyze COGS, inventory, and project‑based accountingSupport an upcoming ERP transition from QuickBooks to IES, including process improvements and system readinessPrepare monthly schedules such as accruals, depreciation, amortization, and cost allocationsAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow trackingPartner directly with operations and leadership to provide financial insights and decision supportHR & AdministrativeSupport payroll coordination and reviewAssist with onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administrationMaintain employee records and ensure compliance with internal policiesWhat You BringBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field7+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong experience with COGS, job costing, and project accountingPercentage‑of‑completion experience preferredHands‑on experience in a small company, manufacturing, engineering, or oil and gas environmentProficiency with QuickBooks and strong Excel skillsExperience supporting or leading an ERP implementationAbility to work 100% onsite and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teamsDetail‑oriented, resourceful, and able to operate independentlyWhy This Role Is AttractiveOpportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the current Controller retiresHighly visible role with direct impact on operations and financial performanceHands‑on environment where you can improve processes and shape the accounting functionStable organization with strong technical and operational capabilities
