Job Summary:
Buyer I manages procurement activities for assigned commodities, ensuring uninterrupted supply at optimal cost, quality, and delivery. This position negotiates contracts, evaluates supplier performance, manages supplier relationships, and works with cross-functional teams within the company. Buyer I is expected to apply purchasing principles and data analysis to resolve supply issues and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions:
Purchase materials, goods, and services in accordance with approved specifications and timelines to meet the company needs.
Manage purchase orders within the ERP system to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation.
Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and risk considerations.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, manage blanket orders, monitor strategic supplier inventory and delivery commitments.
Maintain supplier relationships & performance metrics with KPI's, and work with cross-functional teams such as QC & Accounting to resolve any issues.
Lead and participate in cost savings projects, and end of month procurement reporting requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
Work closely with all the cross-functional teams such as Operations, Production, Engineering, Receiving, Accounting, etc.
Monitor the daily reports and demand forecast to prevent any stockouts or excess inventory.
Qualifications:
AS degree with a minimum of 5-years' experience required with Purchasing and Supply Management experience including forecasting, supply chain management, and working with both internal and external partners.
ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics Navision) preferred.
Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Office, Copilot, ChatGPT).
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast paced and changing environment.
Strong customer service orientation and communication skills are required.
