Our ongoing tradition of groundbreaking achievement has earned top recognition at the national and international levels and makes M-DCPS your best choice.BASIC OBJECTIVESThis is a professional position responsible for providing JROTC instruction to secondary school students.JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES1. Instructs students, using various teaching methods, including lectures and demonstrations, following military program of instructional objectives and curriculum materials. 2. Assigns lessons; assesses student progress, including homework assignments; and hears presentations.3. Prepares and administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, issues reports to inform parents of progress, and assigns final grades.4. Maintains attendance, grade promotion, cadet, and military supply records, as required by the school and the appropriate branch of the military service.5. Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.6. Maintains discipline in the classroom.7. Organizes and participates in Booster Club activities.8. Meets with parents to discuss pupil's academic, social and behavioral progress.9. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational JROTC conferences and inservice classes.10. Maintains an administrative file (cadet record) that includes personal data, awards, promotions, discipline records, as required by the appropriate branch of military service. Maintains supply organization for clothing, equipment, etc.11. Maintains cadet organization to include an awards assembly and a military ball.12. Plans a summer camp for cadets at various military installations.13. Organizes and trains cadets for statewide drill and/or rifle competitions and provides a physical fitness program for all cadets.14. Assists and motivates students in meeting criteria for Senior Reserve Officer Training CORPS (SROTC) scholarships to universities and military academies.15. Participates in local and statewide drill competitions and military ceremonies.16. Performs related work as required, or as assigned by the supervising administrator or his/her designee.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis is heavy work which requires the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to heat, noise, vibrations, hazards and atmospheric conditions. All military JROTC personnel must meet military service physical fitness requirements and military appearance standards.
