GMEC is proudly guided by an advisory council of community leaders and has a welcoming physical office in Beaverton, Oregon.GMEC provides an array of community specific services and programs and connects the communities to resources available to them at IRCO, and externally.Position SummaryThe GMEC Community Outreach Specialist position will build and maintain community relationships and foster dialogue between IRCO and the communities we serve. The Community Outreach Specialist will ensure that hard-to-reach community voices are heard, that community needs are understood, and that the community is updated about IRCO's services. The Community Outreach Specialist will adhere to all policies, contracts and grant obligations are met.Essential FunctionsBuild and maintain strong relationships with Pacific Islander communitiesDevelop and maintain community contact with various community leaders, IRCO and program external stakeholdersLead, plan, and facilitate focus group discussions and community engagement eventsAssist in organizing, developing, and maintaining positive relationships with community leaders, coalitions, partners and key stakeholders, and working collaboratively to maximize civic engagement to work collectively towards institution driven changeSupport GMEC programs to communicate, engage and serve Pacific Islander clientsSupport GMEC programs to increase quality of servicesPrepare internal reports of community engagement effortsMaintain a record of community needs and communicate them to management in a timely fashionEnsure that IRCO policies and procedures are followed in all GMEC activitiesSecondary FunctionsAbility to meet multiple, including conflicting deadlinesAbility to maintain a high level of confidentialityAbility to work flexible hours to meet the availability of clientsParticipate consistently in regular IRCO internal meetingsSupport IRCO events as neededRequirementsEducation & ExperienceMINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experienceMinimum 1-2 years of work experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Strong analytical, problem-solving skillsStrong skills in community focused, interpersonal, and organizational communicationCommunicate effectively in a positive manner verbally, in writing, and by phoneStrong communication skills in a multilingual, multibackground team and organizationPhysical, Mental, & Environmental RequirementsOffice setting jobImpact and Influence: Positions at this level have some need or ability to analyze problem or concepts or make decisions on the information.
