Varsity Ice Hockey Assistant coach
Job Title: VARSITY ICE HOCKEY ASSISTANT COACH Under the supervision of the East Grand Rapids High School (EGRHS) Athletic Director and the head ice hockey coach, the assistant ice hockey coach is responsible for the duties assigned by the head ice hockey coach. The coach will develop individual and team skills and continue to build upon the "Tradition of Excellence" of the East Grand Rapids athletic program. The coach will work in collaboration with the head ice hockey coach to build fundamental skills and prepare athletes for competition. Qualifications:High School diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.)Successful ice hockey coaching experience or college coaching/playing experience (preferred)Experience in providing direct supervision of student-athletesKnowledge of MHSAA rules and regulationsCPR/AED certification or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days of hireFirst aid knowledge (preferred) Essential Functions:Ability to effectively communicate and assist with implementing an ice hockey program that fulfills the role of interscholastic athletics in a high school settingDemonstrated ability to lead by example and develop professional, yet meaningful relationships with all stakeholdersDesire and ability to implement and sustain a culture of success and accountability that places student development and sportsmanship at the forefront of the programWillingness to invest in creating a cooperative working relationship with players, parents, team boosters, fans, and the mediaAbility to encourage student-athletes to participate in ice hockey and advocate for continued growth of the program throughout the communityWillingness and ability to be a team player who will encourage student-athletes to participate in multiple sports/extracurricular activitiesAbility to provide input and assist the athletic director in scheduling contestsAbility to provide direct supervision of student-athletes under their careAbility to plan and implement practices that build fundamental skills, and demonstrate an ability to adapt practices and drills to fit the differing levels of ability of student-athletes and teamsWillingness to work cooperatively with the strength and conditioning coordinator to implement an in-season training programWillingness to learn on the jobAbility to maintain the inventory and storage of equipment and the care of facilitiesWillingness to adhere to the processes and procedures as outlined in the East Grand Rapids Coaches handbookWillingness to have a flexible time commitmentWillingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendanceAbility to complete other duties as assigned Reports To: Athletic Director Rate: Per Contract Start Date: October 26, 2026 Deadline: Until Filled Duration: 1 Year (Renewable based on recommendation of the Athletic Director) To Apply: Interested applicants should apply at: https://jobs.redroverk12.com/org/eastgrandrapids Deadline: Until Filled
