Housing Manager
Hale Mahaolu is a private, nonprofit housing corporation that owns and/or manages low- and moderate-income housing units for families, elderly, and/or disabled people. Our mission is to create and manage vibrant, quality, affordable rental communities and provide supportive programs and services for seniors, families and individuals.

This Housing Manager position is full-time salaried exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Benefits include medical, drug, vision, dental, vacation, and retirement plan.
Job Overview
The Housing Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the management and operations of residential properties, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of property management, social work principles, and crisis management techniques. The ideal candidate will be skilled in negotiation and possess knowledge of Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 programs, and property management software such as OneSite. The Housing Manager will work closely with residents to foster a supportive community environment while addressing their needs effectively.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of housing properties, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Manage tenant relations, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts through effective communication and motivational interviewing techniques. Conduct regular property inspections to ensure maintenance standards are met and coordinate necessary repairs or improvements. Implement policies and procedures to promote a safe and welcoming living environment for all residents. Maintain accurate records related to tenant applications, leases, and occupancy rates using property management software such as OneSite. Prepare reports on property performance metrics and compliance issues for senior management.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED is required and a college degree is preferred. Active Real Estate License preferred upon hire or at least obtained within six months of hire. Proven experience in property management or related fields; knowledge of social work principles is a plus. Familiarity with Section 8 housing assistance and Fair Housing regulations. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to mediate disputes effectively. Experience in crisis management with a focus on maintaining resident safety and well-being. Proficient in using property management software such as OneSite; ability to learn new systems quickly is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
