Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.The Acceptable Knowledge Expert (AKE) supports the Contact-Handled (CH) Transuranic (TRU) Program by performing duties associated with Process Knowledge (PK) and Acceptable Knowledge (AK) information. This role works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to extract, analyze, and summarize data from production, historical, and document databases in support of investigations, issue resolution, regulatory compliance, and formal document generation. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Collect, summarize, and document information related to waste-generating facilities, processes, physical and chemical characteristics, and applicable regulatory requirements for transuranic wasteEnter and maintain historical record information within established tracking databasesExtract and analyze information from multiple databases and data sets to support program objectivesUtilize historical records to develop reports that meet regulatory, programmatic, and audit-specific requirementsEvaluate container data to qualify containers for waste streams, treatment processes, and disposal pathwaysInterpret regulatory requirements, including Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), Waste Acceptance Permit (WAP), and applicable regulations such as RCRA and TSCA, to ensure compliant waste management practicesInitiate Nonconformance Reports and resolve Acceptable Knowledge issues as requiredProvide direct support to operations personnel to ensure compliance with site-specific and WIPP AK requirementsSupport preparation and execution of annual WIPP auditsInterface with internal functional groups including Document Services and Information TechnologyCoordinate and interface with external organizations, including DOE entities, to support inbound waste shipment activitiesInterface with the Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) and DOE Idaho personnel as required in support of CH TRU waste activitiesAssist in training and qualification of other Acceptable Knowledge ExpertsRespond to departmental requests efficiently and complete assigned tasks in a timely mannerMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in information technology, science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline, and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong knowledge of document development and proficiency with Microsoft WordAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated proficiency in data management and data analysis techniquesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyProven problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple teamsAbility to qualify as an Acceptable Knowledge Expert within the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project (AMWTP) certified programMust be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q ClearanceDue to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.Navarro is an equal-opportunity employer.
