Equipment Dispatcher (Archbold)
Position Summary:The Dispatcher supports daily equipment and transportation operations for Miller Bros. Const., Inc. by coordinating equipment scheduling, transportation logistics, rental equipment, telematics systems, permitting, and fleet communication to support field operations safely and efficiently.This role works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Drivers, Vendors, and internal departments to ensure equipment availability, accurate tracking, and timely delivery of equipment and materials to jobsites. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting equipment utilization, and ensuring effective communication across multiple systems and teams.The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and customer service.Key Responsibilities:Promote and prioritize safety in all tasks, planning, and daily activitiesMaintain professional communication with field personnel, vendors, drivers, and managementCoordinate equipment movement and transportation schedulesSupport efficient utilization of company-owned and rental equipmentEnsure accurate equipment tracking and operational system updatesMaintain compliance with permitting and DOT requirementsSupport telematics and asset tracking systemsAssist with reporting, scheduling, and operational planning activitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Coordinate equipment scheduling and dispatching for active construction projectsReceive and process equipment requests from Foremen and Project ManagersCreate and maintain transportation schedules for drivers and equipment deliveriesDetermine hauling permit requirements and secure applicable permits for oversized or specialized loadsCommunicate delivery and pickup schedules with field personnel and driversUpdate Dispatcher, ECMS, Samsara, Clue, and other operational systems with current equipment and location informationMonitor geofence alerts and update equipment locations as necessaryCoordinate rental equipment procurement with vendors as neededProcess rental equipment setup information and support rental asset trackingReview and approve rental equipment invoices and utilization dataAssist with evaluating rental versus purchase options for operational needsCoordinate fuel vendor setup and fuel deliveries for projects and facilitiesMonitor bulk fuel and DEF tank levels and arrange deliveries as neededMaintain equipment utilization reporting and hour meter accuracyGenerate weekly utilization and idle-time reports for management reviewSet up and maintain equipment and project information within telematics systemsTroubleshoot telematics reporting and hardware issues with vendors and field personnelCoordinate new asset setup and deactivation within operational systemsOrder and maintain equipment decals and numbering inventorySupport DOT electronic logbook compliance and auditingProvide additional operational and administrative support as assignedQualifications:EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience2–5 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation coordination, or equipment management experience preferredExperience working with construction or heavy equipment operations preferredExperience with telematics systems, dispatch software, or fleet management systems preferredExperience with permits, routing, and transportation coordination preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced work environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software systemsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across departmentsStrong attention to detail and accuracyWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements:Position is based in an office and yard environment at the MBC Equipment & Training CenterRequires frequent communication with field personnel, vendors, and driversAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use computer systems regularly throughout the workdayOccasional outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditionsOccasional extended hours may be required based on workload and operational needsExposure to typical office, shop, and yard conditions, including noise, dust, and vehicle trafficAbility to safely navigate active construction, shop, and yard environments while complying with company safety policies and proceduresThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the associate(s) incumbent in this position.
