Trauma Surgery APP (NP/PA)

We are seeking a skilled nurse practitioner or physician assistant/associate to join our team in the trauma surgery department of our Trauma Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide services to the acutely injured patient across the care continuum, from the trauma bay to the intensive care unit and floor. Our APPs perform initial assessments of the injured patient, admissions, procedures, education, and discharges, all while working collaboratively with a team of board-certified trauma and critical care surgeons. Clinicians care for critically ill patients with traumatic injury, respiratory failure, severe arrhythmias and cardiac arrest, sepsis and septic shock, intracranial hemorrhage, altered mental status, coma, and more. Obtain and maintain advanced trauma life support.Provide education to patients and their families on the plan of care and post-operative management.Communicate effectively with the surgical team regarding patient status and changes in condition.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research projects.Maintain accurate and complete patient records.Rotating days, nights, and weekendsMinimum Qualifications:Master's or Doctorate preparation from an accredited program as an adult (or adult-gero) acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant/associateBoard certification as an adult (or adult-gero) acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant/associateCurrent state licensure in the Commonwealth of VirginiaDEA license requiredBLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider with an expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practiceATLS on hire, or within 3-6 months, depending on experienceStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively as part of the surgical teamExcellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience working as an Advanced Practice Provider in a Trauma or Critical Care setting
