We're a purpose-driven company where people come first, and many roles are fully remote.The RoleWe are seeking a Mid-Level Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to provide information technology testing and validation support for software applications and systems. This role participates in all phases of testing, from requirements analysis and test planning through test case development and execution, and performs functional, integration, and data validation testing to ensure system quality and performance. The ideal candidate combines strong automation development skills with manual testing fundamentals and works closely with developers and analysts to identify defects, support resolution, and ensure alignment with user requirements and system specifications.What You'll Do• Provides information technology testing and validation support for software applications and systems.• Participates in all phases of testing, including requirements analysis, test planning, test case development, and execution, applying shift-left practices to identify defects as early as possible in the SDLC.• Performs functional, integration, and data validation testing to ensure system quality and performance.• Supports accessibility testing, including automated validation of applicable section 508 requirements.• Works with developers and analysts to identify defects, support resolution, and ensure alignment with user requirements and system specifications.• Primarily, designs, develops, and maintains automated test scripts and frameworks to support regression, functional, and integration testing.• Integrates automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and early defect detection.• Analyzes test results and system logs to isolate root causes and communicates findings clearly to development teams.• Documents test plans, test cases, and testing outcomes to support traceability and audit requirements.• Uses AI-assisted testing and development tools, where appropriate, to accelerate test case generation, automation development, defect analysis, and improve overall testing effectiveness.What We're Looking For• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.• 4 years of experience in test automation.• Proficiency in Java for writing automated tests.• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, JUnit/TestNG).• Experience developing and executing automated API tests using tools/frameworks such as, Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar.• Familiarity with SQL for data validation and backend testing.• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing practices within Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.Why OctavePurpose-driven work.
