Spray Technician- Federal Contract Division

Job Description Job OverviewByrd Enterprises (BEU) is seeking a licensed Spray Technician experienced in herbicide application/chemical turf management for National Veteran Cemetery Grounds Maintenance Projects in the Southeast District.The ideal candidate understands chemical application best practices, vegetation management/turf & soil health, soil conditions, and is licensed/can be licensed in further states.Key ResponsibilitiesApply herbicide pre/post emergents, fertilizer, pest chemical treatments on National Veteran Cemeteries.Conduct vegetation control treatments along fence lines, roads, and landscaped areas with caution and within environmental requirementsPerform fertilizer and soil amendment applications to support turf healthIdentify weed species, turf issues, soil deficiencies, and pest infestationsOperate and maintain backpack sprayers, ride-on sprayers, and spray rigsCalibrate chemical equipment to ensure accurate application ratesMix and apply chemicals according to EPA label requirements and safety regulationsMaintain detailed spray logs and application records for regulatory complianceFollow OSHA, EPA pesticide regulations, and federal site safety requirementsRequired QualificationsValid state pesticide applicator license (commercial or public applicator- BEU will assist and pay for further licensing/training)Experience with herbicide application and vegetation managementKnowledge of turfgrass management and weed identificationAbility to safely mix and apply chemicals, experience with spray equipment calibrationAbility to maintain spray equipment and work outdoors in various weather conditionsPreferred QualificationsExperience working in cemeteries, memorial parks, or government facilitiesKnowledge of integrated vegetation management (IVM)Experience managing vegetation around monuments, stone markers, and landscaped memorial groundsFamiliarity with federal safety/environmental standards/OSHA and documentationWork EnvironmentOutdoor work environment when traveling onsite; in office when not applyingUse of chemical treatments and commercial spray equipmentJob Type: Full-Time with future growth in new DivisionLocation: Lynchburg, VA (Travel to federal cemetery and other locations required- 50% travel initially)Why Join Byrd Enterprises:Work on important National Veteran Cemetery projectsCompetitive pay based on experienceOpportunity to work on federal and large-scale grounds management projectsProfessional and safety-focused work environmentPay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per yearBenefits:Health insuranceOpportunities for advancementPaid time offPaid trainingParental leaveProfessional development assistanceApplication Question(s):Do you have authorization to access a Department of Defense facility?Experience:Spraying: 3 years (Preferred)License/Certification:Driver's License (Required)Spray/Chemical License (Required)Willingness to travel:50% (Required)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Lynchburg, VA 24504Company DescriptionByrd Enterprises has successfully performed Government contracts with excellent past performance ratings for the past 46 years.
