Corporate Accountant - Retail Operations Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid) Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 + Variable BonusWe are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join a global retail and apparel brand based in Boston. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in fixed asset accounting, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is comfortable partnering across global departments.Key ResponsibilitiesCapitalized Software & Intangible AssetsOversee the full lifecycle of internally developed software costs, including capitalization, tracking, and amortization in line with ASC 350-40 guidancePartner with technology, finance, and project teams to capture accurate cost data and ensure proper accounting treatmentFinancial Reporting & Close ActivitiesContribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAPPrepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and capital expendituresPerform reconciliations across bank accounts and key balance sheet accountsMonitor and maintain general ledger accuracyReview expense classifications to confirm proper departmental allocationAccounts Payable & ReceivableAdminister the accounts payable function within SAP, ensuring invoices are processed and paid on scheduleGenerate inter-company or cross-functional billing and ensure timely invoicing to customers or partnersReconcile outstanding receivables and payables to maintain clean aging reportsAudit & Tax SupportAssist with internal control audits, including J-SOX requirements, and coordinate documentation requestsSupport annual tax filings and provide necessary schedules to external advisorsMaintain documentation and processes that ensure readiness for audits throughout the yearPrepare and submit required 1099 filingsCompliance & Continuous ImprovementUphold and refine accounting policies to ensure regulatory adherence and financial accuracyCollaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial processes and reporting workflowsDrive consistency and efficiency within finance operationsProvide support on special projects and additional finance initiatives as neededAdditional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related disciplineAt least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years focused on fixed assets, particularly intangible assetsHands-on experience with SAP or a comparable ERP platformStrong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial dataAdvanced proficiency in Excel, including working with large data-setsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail, balanced with strategic awarenessAbility to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environmentSolid understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks, including SOX complianceEffective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyPlease reach out to George Brown on the attached details to discuss this role further.
