Armed Security Officer

Job Title: Armed Security OfficerLocation: Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (YHONA), Newport, OregonScheduleEvening and night shifts required, with potential for 24/7 availability for alarm response.Job Summary: The Armed Security Officer will provide security services at the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (YHONA). The position requires the officer to ensure the safety and security of the park’s facilities, personnel, and visitors, particularly during evening and non-business hours. The officer will be responsible for alarm response, patrol duties, and assisting in the closing of the site after sunset.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide security escort services to Entrance Employees at the main entrance station at sunset every evening (365 days a year).Assist in closing the site after sunset by sweeping designated park work areas.Provide 24/7-armed alarm response services for the site.Deactivate and reactivate security alarms as necessary when entering and exiting secured areas such as the Maintenance Shop, Interpretive Center, and Entrance Station.Patrol all YHONA facilities and work areas, including the Entrance Station, Maintenance Building, Interpretive Center, Historic 1873 Lighthouse, Field Station, and vault toilet facilities.Secure trails and other designated areas, including Salal Hill, Cobble Beach, Communication Hill, Quarry Cove, and the host site location with 3 RV pads.Maintain and protect security keys, alarm codes, and communication equipment issued by BLM.Ensure the main gate remains locked during non-business hours and manage access to the site.Maintain a professional presence and collaborate with BLM personnel while on duty.Wear appropriate uniform and safety gear, including terrain-appropriate footwear and weather-resistant outerwear.Maintain professional behavior and appearance while on duty.Prohibit unauthorized visitors and unauthorized use of BLM property, including office equipment.Qualifications:Must hold current licenses, bonds, and insurance as required by Oregon state laws.Must have completed required training to meet Oregon State Laws governing private security professionals, including firearm handling.Experience in security services, particularly in outdoor or park environments, is preferred.Ability to work in varying weather conditions and terrains.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.Powered by JazzHR
