Process Engineer

Overview In this role, you will provide daily technical support and optimize unit operations at a specialty chemical manufacturing facility. You will drive continuous improvement across production lines handling cGMP salts, and high-purity acids and solvents, collaborating with operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS teams to ensure safe, compliant manufacturing. You will lead process development, scale-up, and capital projects, delivering robust technical documentation and procedures. This is an onsite role in Phillipsburg, NJ with a strong safety and cross-functional focus. Compensation / BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageWellness programs401(k) with company matchEmployee stock purchase program11 paid holidays and 18 PTO days annuallySix weeks of paid parental leave ResponsibilitiesProcess optimization and troubleshooting across reactors, crystallizers, centrifuges, dryers, distillation units; monitor performance and resolve bottlenecks.Investigate non-conformances (OOS) and implement CAPA; drive quality improvements.Champion plant safety through involvement in PHAs, HAZOPs, MOC reviews and adherence to OSHA PSM and cGMP guidelines.Design, scope, and manage capital improvement projects from conception to commissioning, including P&IDs, equipment specs, and SOPs.Write, review, and maintain SOPs, batch records, and technical documentation for chemical handling and processing operations. Key requirementsBachelor in Chemical Engineering or related field5+ years of related experience2+ years of chemical manufacturing experienceHands-on experience with PSM, OSHA regulations, and/or cGMP environmentsStrong knowledge of chemistry and high purity processingExperience in salts synthesis or liquid purification preferredDemonstrated use of SPC tools and process improvementExperience in FDA-regulated, cGMP environments preferredProblem-solving abilitiesCross-functional communicationProactive, safety-first mindsetProcess Safety Management (PSM)OSHA regulationscGMP compliance
