Faculty and staff work in a collaborative environment that values innovation, inclusion, and care for the whole student.Role DescriptionThis computer science teaching position is a full-time, on-site position based in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging computer science lessons that align with the school’s college preparatory standards and Lasallian values. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and updating curricula, preparing lesson plans, and teaching multiple sections of computer science courses. The teacher will evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental meetings, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and supporting co-curricular activities or clubs related to technology and computer science.QualificationsStrong knowledge of computer science, with the ability to teach foundational and, where applicable, advanced topics.Experience or training in computer science education and curriculum development, including designing age-appropriate, standards-based instructional materials.Skill in lesson planning and assessment, using a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to support diverse learners.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Prior teaching experience at the middle or high school level, or equivalent experience mentoring or instructing students in computer science.Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment aligned with the school’s Catholic and Lasallian mission, welcoming students of all backgrounds.Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a professional learning community.Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to support school life beyond the classroom (e.g., clubs, activities, events).
