Kennel Assistant Position at Westbrook Animal Hospital Westbrook Animal Hospital is searching for a compassionate, hardworking, and positive Kennel Assistant to join our team! We are a collaborative three-doctor practice caring for companion animals and select exotic pets, supported by an incredible team that works closely together to provide exceptional patient care. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys caring for animals, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital for both pets and people. While this position is incredibly rewarding, it also requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. The responsibilities of this position include: Clean kennels, cages, and hospital areas to maintain a safe and sanitary environment Sweep, mop, and help maintain overall hospital cleanliness and organization Assist with pet feeding, meal preparation, and medication administration as directed Wash dishes, litter pans, bedding, and laundry for the hospital and kennel areas Assist with patient baths and basic grooming support Monitor boarding pets and help ensure their comfort and well-being Help maintain clean outdoor grounds and facility areas Support the veterinary team with daily hospital tasks as needed We are looking for someone who brings: Positive attitude and strong work ethic Excellent communication and teamwork skills Compassion for animals and the people who care for them Comfort working with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes Understanding that cleanliness and sanitation are essential parts of the role Ability to multitask, problem solve, and work independently when needed Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend frequently, and lift up to 40 pounds Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Animal care experience is a plus, but not required Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays The extras you'll actually feel: Mentorship and support as you continue growing your skills A team environment where questions and learning are encouraged Meaningful work helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for Exposure to a variety of veterinary and animal care experiences A workplace culture built around teamwork, support, and compassion Join Our Team!
