Title: Mechanical Engineering Intern - Airflow & CFD Responsible Manager: Director of Metals Technology, Global Additive MindsLocation: Pflugerville, Texas (On-Site)We, EOS - world market leader for industrial 3D printing, are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the development of airflow systems for a next-generation large-format additive manufacturing platform.This role focuses on the design, simulation, and experimental validation of airflow within the process chamber to enable effective removal of smoke, soot, and process byproducts. The intern will lead the development of a full-scale airflow test platform and use a combination of CAD, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and physical testing to optimize system performance. This is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering role with direct impact on production system design.Your MissionDesign and develop a modular airflow test system representing the process chamberPerform CFD simulations to analyze airflow patterns, velocity distribution, and pressure characteristicsDesign and evaluate inlet nozzles, outlet geometries, and ducting configurationsConduct experimental airflow testing, including smoke visualization and quantitative measurementsIntegrate and utilize sensors (anemometers, pressure sensors) for data collectionCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, additive, systems)Document findings and provide final design recommendationsYour TalentsCurrently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fieldStrong foundation in fluid mechanics and thermodynamicsExperience with CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or similar)Exposure to or experience with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, etc.)Our Vision Over 1000 sharp minds, about 60 nationalities, one goal: accelerating the world’s transition to Responsible Manufacturing.Our proven technology, industrial 3D printing, has been extending the boundaries of manufacturing for over 30 years.
