Athletic Trainer/Clinical Assistant

The Athletic Trainer/Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing for clinic visits and procedures, preparing and assisting patients during visits, and assisting providers with patient care and follow up.Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and self-motivated and possess a strong team mentality. Position requires excellent communication skills with patients and staff, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment. Pay range commensurate with experience.This position is 4 days a week, 10 hour days.Opens and closes the provider pod dailyReviews provider schedules in advance, preps charts and equipmentGreets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam rooms, prepares patient for exam or procedure, completes rooming and patient intake, provides patient educationAssists provider during exam and office procedures including ultrasound, injections, specimen draws, casting and brace fittings and removal, impact/concussion testing per protocolPrepares injections, blood draws per protocol, preps samples for pick up by labPrepares and maintains supplies and equipment, including medications and sterilizations, following OSHA, CLIA and practice protocolsAnswers all incoming calls with clear and pleasant speaking voice, giving information for all routine questions (ex: office hours, fax number), and directs calls to the appropriate individual or team for handling.Prepares work/school notes and prescription refill requests per practice and MassPAT protocolsAssists patient with dressing, ambulation/ transport and care needsImports labs and imaging discs, documents visits and orders, takes messages using eCWIdentifies urgent calls, and expedites to the appropriate person for immediate responseMaintains work queues throughout the day following protocolCross covers other clinical areas as neededCompletes other tasks as directed by managementAttends staff meetings and continuing educationMaintains MA or AT licensure, CPR and First Aide certificationRequirementsMedical Assistant certificate or Certified Athletic Trainer required, orthopedic or sports medicine experience preferredMinimum of two years related experience preferredDemonstrated ability to handle high volume of patients and calls in fast paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer skills including EMR and MS Office Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and disciplineAbility to work with and maintain confidentiality of patient, patient account, and personal dataCommitment to excellence, high standards, and continuously improving the quality of care provided to patientsStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsVersatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
