EHS Coordinator
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, & SAFETY COORDINATOR
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator plays a crucial role in company operations and in the structural steel fabrication process. The EHS Coordinator must interact with employees, contractors, and visitors and must spend a significant amount of time in the plant ensuring that all programs and procedures are appropriate and are being followed. This role coordinates/conducts training, develops safe working practices, and participates in all incident investigations. The EHS Coordinator conducts internal plant audits and develops and tracks corrective actions based upon audit findings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Highly motivated individual
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health or related concentration or equivalent experience/training
Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing safety management OR combination of education / experience in manufacturing, with knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations and other State and local regulatory agency requirements
Experience conducting job hazard analyses, risk assessments, or safety/compliance audits is preferred
Attention to detail and precision
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Proficiency with MS Office
CERTIFICATIONS
OSHA (500) outreach trainer desired but not required
30-Hour OSHA
Rigging, scaffolding, fall protection, confined space, and/or ladder safety competent person highly desired
First Aid/CPR/AED
POSITION EXPECTATIONS
Be reliable and conscientious
Assume a leadership role in coaching employees
Perform safety audits with a focus on personnel, safe use of equipment and materials and adherence to the company’s safety program
Conduct training on safety and health topics and incident prevention
Establish a safety focused culture and encourage employees to have a positive attitude toward safe work practices
Ensure that employees are well-educated in safe practices and have resources to work in a safe manner
Analyze all incidents and near misses and recommend corrective action
Submit all company required project safety reports in an accurate and timely manner
Coordinate/ conduct training of employees
Manage contractor safety program
Assist in the development of safe work practices, and recommend new tools, equipment, and/or procedures to improve the safety of employees
Post all safety bulletins, safety posters, safety rules and applicable legislation
