Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Durham, NC

A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide specialized educational support in a school setting. This contract position is based in Durham, NC, serving students from 3rd through 12th grade with a caseload of 10-11 students. The role requires commitment for two days per week, beginning as soon as possible through June 12, 2026, with the potential to extend into the 2026-2027 school year.Responsibilities:Deliver individualized instruction and support tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across grades 3-12.Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to modify curriculum and classroom environment to meet student needs.Assess student progress and advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources.Facilitate communication access and promote language development in accordance with best practices.Maintain thorough documentation to track student growth and program effectiveness.Qualifications and desired experience:Expertise in Deaf / Hard of Hearing educational strategies.Experience working with students across a wide grade range (3rd-12th grade).Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Ability to manage a caseload of 10-11 students with varying needs.Commitment to supporting student success and inclusive learning environments.Location: Durham, NCThis position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by empowering students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to thrive academically and socially.
