Transformer Technician III
We’re looking for Transformer Technician III candidates who are ready to begin or continue their careers in transformer assembly, oil processing, and on-site service for critical energy infrastructure across the U.S. In this hands-on field role, you’ll assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers from various OEMs at power plants, substations, and industrial facilities. You’ll work in a supportive team environment and have the opportunity to grow within a fast-paced, safety-first organization.What You’ll DoAssemble transformer components, including radiators, bushings, and conservatorsPerform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator unitsRe-gasket units and fabricate gaskets and O-rings as neededAssist in the teardown and prep of transformers for transport or disposalTroubleshoot and resolve basic wiring and mechanical issuesComplete assigned tasks and daily work orders on time and accuratelyOperate and inspect tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safelyFollow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areasSupport the sales team by reporting project opportunities and customer leadsThe Experience We’re Looking For5–10 years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, or assemblyBasic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and online platformsClear, professional communication and ability to follow directionAble to work independently while staying aligned with team goalsAdditional RequirementsWillingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.High school diploma or GED requiredValid driver’s licenseMust pass a DOT physical exam, background check, and drug/alcohol screeningLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAvailable for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidaysPhysically capable of lifting 50+ lbs., working at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and outdoors in all weatherRequires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environmentsBonus Points ForExperience with transformer oil filtration, testing, or disassemblyClass A CDL, OSHA training, and/ or a TWIC card Hold a DOT medical certificationFamiliarity with transformer components, control wiring, or oil filtration Experience using shop equipment, electrical tools, or test platforms Knowledge of transformer teardown or disposal prep proceduresPrior experience working around energized equipment or substationsWhy Join RMS EnergyWe’re not just another power services company.
