Agile System Engineer
OverviewVTG is looking for an Agile System Engineer in Chantilly, VA. (Note: Contingent upon program award).Agile System Engineer I supports system engineering activities within an Agile delivery environment, assisting with requirements development, backlog grooming, and integration planning under senior supervision.Agile System Engineer II independently performs systems engineering functions within an Agile framework, bridging mission needs, technical requirements, and delivery execution.Agile System Engineer III provides technical leadership for systems engineering activities across Agile teams, ensuring mission alignment, architectural integrity, and delivery discipline.What will you do?Agile System Engineer ISupport decomposition of mission and system requirements into Agile epics, features, and user storiesAssist with requirements traceability (e.g., RTM) across backlog items, design artifacts, and test casesParticipate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) as a systems engineering contributorSupport system documentation including CONOPS, interface descriptions, and technical notesCoordinate with developers, testers, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteriaAssist with integration and verification planning activitiesAgile System Engineer IILead decomposition of operational and system requirements into Agile features and user storiesMaintain requirements traceability across backlog, architecture, and verification artifactsCollaborate with Product Owners to refine backlog priorities and acceptance criteriaSupport system design reviews, interface coordination, and integration planningTranslate stakeholder needs into actionable technical requirementsSupport verification, validation, and system readiness activitiesContribute to development of CONOPS, architecture artifacts, and system documentationAgile System Engineer IIILead end to end systems engineering activities within Agile delivery frameworksDefine and manage system level requirements, dependencies, and technical risksGuide decomposition of complex mission needs into scalable Agile backlogsServe as primary systems engineering interface to government stakeholders and technical leadershipEnsure architectural alignment, interface consistency, and integration readinessOversee requirements traceability, verification strategy, and system acceptanceMentor junior and mid level systems engineersSupport program reviews, technical roadmaps, and long range planningDo you have what it takes?TS/SCI with Poly RequiredBachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldAgile System Engineer I1-4 years of systems engineering experiencePreferred Qualifications: Exposure to Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile lifecycle tools, Internship or academic project experience in systems engineering or Agile deliveryAgile System Engineer II5-9 years of systems engineering experiencePreferred Qualifications: Familiarity with system integration, data flows, and external interfaces Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent)Agile System Engineer III10+ years of systems engineering experience.Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with distributed or multi team Agile environments Agile and/or systems engineering certifications (SAFe, INCOSE, CSEP, etc.)
