Job Title: PCB Process Engineer
Department: Operations
Summary: As a PCB Process Engineer, you will optimize and support printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost. This role involves developing and maintaining robust production processes, collaborating with design engineers to ensure manufacturability and reliability, and analyzing manufacturing data to drive root cause and corrective actions. The PCB Process Engineer also supports New Product Development, Through-Hole soldering operations, RMA activities, and collaborates closely with supervisors and cross-functional teams as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines basic duties and responsibilities which are not intended to be all inclusive:
Own and manage assigned PCB manufacturing processes, ensuring stable, repeatable, and capable production
Read and interpret PCB schematics, assembly drawings, setup sheets, Gerbers, Place Files, and BOMs to support accurate builds
Operate and support production equipment including SMT (Juki), solder paste printers, board loader, reflow ovens, wave solder, AOI/SPI equipment, and related tools
Program and optimize SMT machines, solder paste printers, reflow ovens, wave solder systems, and AOI/SPI equipment
Support and utilize manual soldering equipment such as solder stations and mini-wave systems
Develop and maintain part routings, BOMs, work instructions, inspection criteria, and manufacturing documentation
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), including process reviews, qualifications, prototype builds, and production release
Transfer products from prototype to full production, supporting DFM/DFA activities and manufacturability improvements
Align customer requirements to released production items and ensure compliance with customer specifications
Inspect PCBs for defects, analyze quality data, and ensure compliance with IPC and internal quality standards
Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues using root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement tools
Assist in creating, review, and maintaining PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, Inspection Guides, and related quality documents
Support Manufacturing and Engineering Change processes (MCO, ECO, TSD) and ensure controlled implementation
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Program Management to drive continuous improvement, RIE events, test fixture development, and preventive maintenance activities
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma
Proficiency in soldering techniques and electrical assembly is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret: Gerbers, BOMs, technical drawings, and work instructions.
Demonstrates a positive attitude as a team player and support to the Company’s customers.
Conducts oneself with a high-level of professionalism and personal integrity.
Use Microsoft Tools: Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
PERFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Engineering or Engineering Tech Degree
5 years’ experience in PCB Production
5 years’ experience in SMT Programming
Strong knowledge of PCB Assembly and Soldering.
Parmi specific knowledge: Programming and Operating AOI Equipment
Juki specific knowledge: Programming Language, Setup, Running
Troubleshoot and determine root cause of issues.
Evaluate Manufacturability and Efficiency savings during production.
Certifications in: IPC-A-610 & IPC J-STD-001
ISO 9001:2015 Knowledge
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Compliance with IEC operating policies and procedures
Cross-Functional communications in support of IEC goals
Adherence to standard days and hours for on-site work: Monday through Friday, recognizing there are times when longer hours and/or weekend work may be necessary to help meet Customer and Company expectations.
Other duties as assigned. From time to time, the supervisor may ask the PCB Process Engineer to assist with tasks that are outside normal job responsibilities, but within the individual’s capability, to achieve company goals. IEC expects PCB Process Engineer to respond to these requests in a positive manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Being on the floor, hands on, will be critical for the role. 70% of time will be in either SMT or TH.
This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment and the person in this role knows how to conduct self in a professional manner.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have good communication skills. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Rare travel may be required to customers, vendors, and other service partners, it would be isolated to the local area and during the business day.
