Legal Director

Position Description Location: Montpelier, VT (Hybrid options available) Position Type: Full-time, Exempt Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 annually Disability Rights Vermont (DRVT), the state’s federally designated protection and advocacy system, seeks an experienced Legal Director to lead our legal team under the direction of our Executive Director, in defending and advancing the rights of people with disabilities. This position offers the opportunity to shape high-impact litigation and advocacy while mentoring attorneys and carrying a caseload that drives systemic change. Key Responsibilities Litigation & Strategy: Supervise and conduct litigation in state and federal courts; guide staff on strategy, appeals, and case development. Supervision & Training: Oversee attorney casework, review service requests, and coordinate staff training. Leadership & Advocacy: Serve as a legal resource; foster collaboration; identify emerging disability rights issues and develop innovative responses.
