Pre-Kindergarten ESL Instructional & Compliance Paraprofessional @ Martinez Early Learning Center(Internal employees: Set your account to internal before applying at https://aisd.schoolspring.com/internaljobsettings)Primary Purpose:To maintain a record system of Emergent Bilingual students; keep data information in such a manner that records can easily be located regarding Emergent Bilingual student testing, placement and monitoring. Assist teachers in providing instruction to Emergent Bilingual students in the classroom.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDQualify for appropriate state paraprofessional certificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to assist in instructing, supporting and monitoring reading, writing, and mathematics to groups of Emergent Bilingual students and NewcomersInterest and proficiency in reading and mathDemonstrate an interest in educationAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience:NoneMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Program ManagementAssist in carrying out the district's goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with these students.Assist teachers in providing instruction to students in the classroom.Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Maintain accurate and up-to-date files related to testing, placement and monitoring Emergent Bilingual students (LPAC binder/notebook).Enter Emergent Bilingual input of student records to computer and reporting and makes corrections to the student's Emergent Bilingual data file.Prepare agendas for each monthly meeting of the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee.Administer and score oral language proficiency tests and achievement test.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student ManagementHelp supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
