Seasonal Research Technician

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual with a safety mindset who’s open to performing activities across the field/seed team and greenhouse workflows. The individual will need to be proficient in operating field equipment, able to hand harvest in some extreme conditions, and be knowledgeable in research processes with an emphasis on accuracy of data collection and reporting.
This position is a seasonal position and is from September 2024 - March 2025.
What you will do:
10 saw gin operation (mid-September to mid-February)
Hand harvesting of individual plant selections, Boll samples of Yield Trials. Approx.4500 (10-12 days one week in late September and one in mid to late October)
Machine harvest of Cotton Yield trials and seed increases: Bag Picker operation assistance, Yield Trial weigh picker operation and operation assistance, Module builder operation (10-12 days in October)
Packaging cotton seed into de-linting bags, de-linting cotton Seed, Treating Cotton Seed, (February, maybe longer)
Ability to learn or already proficient in crossing and cotton/soybean growth stages/agronomy/integrated pest management.
What you will bring:
Diploma in Agriculture or Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture is an asset
Hand harvesting of individual plant selections, Boll samples of Yield Trials. Approx.4500 (10-12 days one week in late September and one in mid to late October)
Experience operating small plot research equipment such as tractors, seeders, sprayers and combines is an asset
Willing to work in the field and also capable of learning and executing responsibilities in the Greenhouse, as required
Willing to work extended hours during the busy season
Valid driver’s license required
