Job DescriptionTITLE: Accounting ManagerDEPARTMENT: Finance & AccountingREPORTS TO: ControllerSTATUS: Regular, Full-Time, ExemptPREPARED/REVISED: April 2026SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:The Accounting Manager will support and help drive the modernization and scaling of the accounting function. This role goes beyond traditional accounting oversight and will actively assess and improve the department across people, process, and technology. The ideal candidate brings a continuous improvement mindset, strong technical accounting expertise, and the ability to lead change in a dynamic environment. This position is expected to evolve over time, with responsibilities shifting as transformation initiatives progress and organizational needs change.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Transformation & Continuous Improvement - Assess current accounting workflows, controls, and systems to identify inefficiencies and risks; Lead initiatives to streamline processes and reduce manual effort; Design and implement scalable processes to support business growthPeople & Organizational Development - Evaluate team structure, roles, and skillsets to ensure alignment with future-state needs; Coach and develop team members; Identify training and upskilling opportunities; Foster a culture of accountability, adaptability, and continuous improvementSystems & Technology Enablement - Partner with IT and leadership to implement or optimize ERP and related systems; Drive automation initiatives (e.g., reconciliations, reporting, AP/AR workflows)Cross-Functional Collaboration - Support business initiatives by providing accounting guidance and operational insight; Act as a change agent, influencing stakeholders and gaining buy-in for improvementsSupport the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and the year-end auditTake on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve, including potential expansion into broader finance or operational leadership areasREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or manager roleExperience in a Big Four public accounting firm, consulting firm, or corporate finance & accounting function preferredPrior experience in process improvement, transformation, or system implementationStrong knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsExperience in a Professional Services industry a plusAdvanced Excel; Experience with ERP systems and accounting automation tools; proficiency with NetSuite a plus; knowledge of OneStream a plusDesired competencies:Change Leader: Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving transformationAnalytical Thinking: Able to diagnose issues and design practical solutionsExecution: Balances strategic thinking with hands-on deliveryCommunication: Effectively communicates across levels and functionsAdaptability: Thrives in a role with evolving scope and prioritiesBusiness Insight: Eager and capable of learning the business and industryWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:Increased team capability and engagementA more scalable, well-structured accounting functionTechnology effectively supporting business needsImproved accuracy and reduced manual interventionShortened and more efficient processesWORKING CONDITIONS:Work is generally performed in a typical office environment, with limited exposure to harsh weather conditions, loud internal or external noise, fumes, or significant temperature changes. Occasional overnight travel in a work capacity may be required.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:Lift and carry up to 10 lbs.; frequent standing, sitting, walking, and bending; occasional kneeling, reaching, and stooping; handling office equipment; periodic driving may be required; visual acuity to prepare and read detailed hard copy and electronic documents; ability to speak and to hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face and telephonic business communications.
