Contract Manager-Ferry Operation
NOTE: The following position is for a proposed new/future business within Transdev. Only candidates meeting the work experience requirements will be considered.
The Contract Manager shall serve as the senior‑level authority responsible for the overall management, administration, and oversight of the Transdev ferry operations and maintenance contract. This individual shall act as the primary point of contact for all contract‑related matters and shall have final authority on issues related to contract interpretation, compliance, and performance.
Competitive compensation package: minimum $200,000 – maximum $250,000.
Benefits include:
Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
Sick days: 5 days
Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating
Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, and voluntary long‑term disability.
While the Contract Manager may have additional responsibilities outside of this agreement, they must remain readily accessible and available on short notice to attend meetings, respond to issues, and ensure that all contractual obligations are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between the client agency and the contractor for all contractual and performance‑related matters.
Exercise final authority on contract interpretation, compliance determinations, and resolution of contract‑related issues.
Oversee and monitor performance to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, including service delivery, safety standards, and operational expectations.
Ensure that ferry operations are delivered in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner consistent with the terms of the agreement.
Administer all aspects of the contract, including review and processing of amendments, changes, and required documentation.
Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks, and take appropriate action to address performance deficiencies.
Coordinate with internal staff, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to support contract administration and issue resolution.
Support the resolution of claims, disputes, and non‑compliance issues in a timely and effective manner.
Attend and participate in meetings as required to support contract oversight and performance management.
Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to contract activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marine operations, marine engineering, business administration, or a related field.
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role that involves contract management, marine transportation and/or similar operational environments.
Demonstrated experience in leadership, oversight, and management of complex contracts or programs.
Skills and Knowledge Required
Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws.
Thorough knowledge of ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation.
Requires 3‑5 years of recent and relevant direct experience managing all aspects of a Ferry service.
Prior experience working with a collective bargaining agreement.
Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments.
Ability to build solid and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
Ability to manage cost control and financial budget.
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of technology, apps, Wi‑Fi, and transportation technology.
Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details.
