Maintenance CNC Machinist

Working Conditions: The majority of the work is to be conducted in a machine shop. Sometimes it will be necessary to go to production work areas to take measurements on parts or equipment.Qualifications:A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Some secondary technical school course work preferred.Two to three years prior experience in CNC Machinist role is required.Three to four years of prior experience working with parts and fabrication is preferred.Proficiency in G-Code, M-Code, blueprint reading, layouts, using calipers, using micrometers, and programing CNC equipment and setup.Responsibilities:Operates and sets up CNC machines.Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders.Lays out, measures and marks metal stock to display placement of cuts.Interprets sketches to provide a quality finished product.Positions and fastens work pieces.Cleans and lubricates machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains and foreign matter.Keeps inventory of raw materials used for machining and alert supervisor when inventory is low, so that materials can be reordered as necessary.Minor troubleshooting of machinery if errors while operatingPerform general maintenance of machine as required.Sets controls to regulate machining, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.Operates a job crane and forklift to manipulate parts.Inspects and measures each part created.Monitors machinery to verify that it is operating properly and at peak efficiency.Notifies and involves supervisor of any problems or issues that arise during machining.Performs basic quality checks at the point of production using scales, micrometers, calipers and gages.Perform tool changes, program edits, and other adjustments to machinery as necessarySets programs and parameters for parts to be machined.Activities:Operating a CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC)Operating a CNC Lathe (2-4 axis)Operating a manual vertical mill and lathe.Operating a surface grinder.Operating a crane to load work pieces on to the machining equipmentOther duties as assigned.Authority and Obligation:N/AEqual Opportunity EmployerThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
