Pricing Analyst

DescriptionPosition Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Pricing Analyst to join our Accounting team and serve as a key liaison between Accounting and the Commercial organization. This role will support the daily execution, validation, and reconciliation of commodity transactions by ensuring sales and purchase pricing accurately reflects contractual terms, market indices, economic factors, and other market-driven variables.The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, a solid understanding of hydrocarbon pricing and refinery operations, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced commercial environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring pricing accuracy, transaction integrity, and timely financial reporting related to refined products and hydrocarbon commodities.Responsibilities & Essential Job FunctionsReview, validate, and process commodity purchase and sales pricing transactions in accordance with commercial contracts and pricing formulas. Analyze pricing components including market indices, location differentials, transportation costs, quality adjustments, timing provisions, and other economic factors. Collaborate closely with Commercial, Accounting, Scheduling, and Operations teams to ensure accurate transaction settlement and reporting.Verify daily, weekly, and monthly commodity pricing data against contracts and published market benchmarks.Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies, invoice variances, and settlement issues.Support month-end close activities related to commodity pricing, accruals, and revenue recognition. Maintain and improve pricing controls, documentation, and internal processes. Assist with audit support and provide documentation related to pricing and settlement activities.Monitor market pricing trends and maintain awareness of relevant refining and hydrocarbon market dynamics. Support system enhancements, reporting improvements, and process automation initiatives where applicable. RequirementsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.5-years of experience with hydrocarbon commodity pricing and commercial transactions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally between Accounting and Commercial teams.Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).Preferred Qualifications3+ years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA).Experience working for a refinery, midstream, trading, or downstream energy company.Understanding of refinery products, crude oil, feedstocks, and commodity market pricing mechanisms.Experience with pricing indices and market data providers (e.g., Argus, OPIS, Platts).Knowledge of inventory, settlement, or commodity accounting processes.Salary Description$95k - $105k Depending on Qualifications
