Early Childhood Teacher
Overview
Temple Akiba is seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our educational team. Ideal candidates will embrace recent child development theories, focusing especially on a play-based curriculum that allows children to explore and develop their emotional, physical, cognitive, and social qualities through developmentally appropriate play and exploration. In addition, the ideal candidate knows Jewish culture and traditions and has a commitment to Jewish values The Preschool Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and staff to create a positive learning atmosphere that promotes growth and development.
Duties
Essential Position Responsibilities
Responsible for the direct care and overall supervision for a group of preschool children.
Observes all rules and regulations set by the Director of Education, and the local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children.
Create an attractive, inviting learning environment, and prepare the classroom daily including set-up at the beginning of school and clean-up at the end.
Implementing lesson plans, as well as program and curriculum development, independently and in collaboration with other staff.
Participate fully in all special enrichments, assemblies, and programs
Attend and participate in one-on-one and department-wide staff meetings, training, workshops, and/or school functions.
Maintains the highest quality of courtesy, friendliness and service excellence toward members, visitors, and staff.
Understand and support Temple Akiba’s mission, vision, and values
Work effectively with all staff members
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
Successful completion of 12 Early Childhood Education Units; 24 units preferred.
Previous teaching experience and credentials for early childhood education.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, Jewish rituals, holidays, traditions, and life cycle events.
Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children, and best practices in early childhood education.
