Senior Systems Engineer (VMware‑to‑Hyper‑V Migration SME)Type: 100% Remote (Initial 2‑week onsite may be required — paid)Contract Role: C2C / 1099 / W2 acceptedRole OverviewThe client is seeking an experienced VMware‑to‑Hyper‑V Migration SME / Senior Systems Engineer for a time‑sensitive infrastructure transition. A key member of the infrastructure team has given notice, creating an immediate need for knowledge transfer, environment assessment, and specialized migration support.Required Skills (Must Have All)Extensive hands‑on experience administering production VMware environments (VMware ESXi, vCenter).Proven experience planning and executing migrations from VMware to Microsoft Hyper‑V.Ability to assess an existing VMware environment and develop a phased migration plan minimizing risk and downtime.Experience building/configuring Hyper‑V hosts and preparing target environments for migrated workloads.Experience migrating Windows Server workloads and validating compute, storage, networking, security, application, and performance functionality post‑migration.Strong knowledge of virtual networking, VLANs, vSwitches, storage dependencies, DNS, IP addressing, and related infrastructure components.Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and rollback planning in virtualized environments.Ability to independently lead a migration initiative, identify risks, recommend approaches, and communicate clearly with IT leadership.Availability to start quickly and provide continuity during a time‑sensitive infrastructure transition.Nice‑to‑Have SkillsExperience using Veeam for backup, replication, recovery, or workload migration in VMware/Hyper‑V environments.Experience integrating Veeam with Wasabi or other S3‑compatible object‑storage platforms.Experience migrating workloads involving Microsoft SQL Server.Experience administering Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Entra ID.Experience supporting F5 load balancing or application‑delivery infrastructure.Broader Windows systems administration experience across hybrid environments (on‑prem + hosted).Experience supporting network infrastructure spanning local datacenters and hosted environments.Experience working with third‑party providers, MSPs, or vendors such as CDW.Experience developing infrastructure documentation, migration runbooks, validation procedures, and operational handoff materials.APPLY NOW
