Shipping & Receiving Specialist The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for the secure handling, logging, storage, packaging, and shipment of materials and equipment, including U.S. Government-regulated and sensitive items.This role requires disciplined execution, strong documentation practices, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and security stakeholders. Success in this position requires operational rigor, discretion, and a demonstrated ability to maintain compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Responsibilities Receive, inspect, log, and track inbound and outbound materials in accordance with internal controls and compliance requirementsHandle U.S. Government-regulated and sensitive equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulationsMaintain accurate chain-of-custody records, inventory logs, and audit documentationCoordinate with production, engineering, quality, and security teams to support the movement of sensitive materialsPrepare packaging and documentation for domestic and international shipments involving regulated equipmentEnsure proper storage, access control, and segregation of sensitive materials and equipmentSupport internal and external audits related to inventory, compliance, and logisticsIdentify process gaps and recommend continuous improvement opportunities within shipping and receiving operationsBasic Qualifications Demonstrated experience handling sensitive or controlled equipment or materials in a corporate or industrial environmentStrong attention to detail with a proven record of accurate documentation and record-keepingExperience with inventory management systems, logs, and tracking toolsAbility to follow established procedures and controls with consistencyEffective communication skills to coordinate across production, engineering, and operations teamsHigh level of professionalism, discretion, and accountabilityPreferred Skills and Experience Prior experience with U.S. Government-regulated, export-controlled, or classified materialsFamiliarity with packaging and transportation requirements for sensitive or regulated equipmentExperience supporting audits related to logistics, inventory, or complianceBackground in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industriesForklift certification or willingness to obtainAdditional Requirements:Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. unassistedMust be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as neededEqual Opportunity EmployerGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.Compensation and Benefits:Pay range:$25.00 - 36.00/hourCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
