Special Education Teacher
Teaching Position:Special Education teaching position. Areas of assignment may include mild disabilities, intensive academic support, or other student support services based on student needs and applicant strengths.Position Reports To: Building Level PrincipalPosition Requirements: Indiana Teaching LicensePass background and DCCS checkTerms of Employment: Employed 185 days per school calendar yearEvaluation: Evaluated by building level principalSalary: Based on Master Contract Years of ExperienceBenefits: Per Master ContractPerformance Responsibilities:Follow and abide by all building policies and procedures.Plan, coordinate, notify and implement all meetings and conferences for all students for whom you are TOR (Teacher of Record).Plan and implement appropriate IEP (Individual Education Programs) for each student for whom you are TOR (Teacher of Record).Evaluate each student for whom you are TOR (Teacher of Record) using state standards.Demonstrate a cooperative attitude to further educational opportunities for all students.Share creative and innovative ideas to further education for all staff and students.Attend professional development activities to promote ability to demonstrate "best practices" and current teaching in your area of specialty.Maintain current license in all necessary areas of certification.Conduct must be maintained to demonstrate a professional and cooperative environment.Confidentiality surrounding students and staff must be maintained.Demonstrate professional respect for and rapport with colleagues.Supervise instructional assistants.Demonstrate transition knowledge/integration.Demonstrate an understanding of physical disabilities.Demonstrate a knowledge of and ability to implement a variety of accommodations and modifications.Demonstrate a knowledge of and the appropriate implementation of a curriculum suited to the needs of students are served.
