Director of Finance and Accounting

Clayton Services is searching for a Director of Finance and Accounting to join a growing and well-established company in Central Houston. The Director of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for leading accounting operations, overseeing financial reporting, and providing key financial insights to support strategic business decisions.Job Type: Direct HirePay Rate: $180,000 - $210,000/year + annual discretionary bonusBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more.Director of Finance and Accounting Responsibilities:Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processesEnsure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standardsDevelop, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and financial proceduresOversee the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditorsManage and mentor a team of 6–7 accounting professionals, including leadership-level staffOwn cash management, liquidity planning, and overall working capital performanceManage banking relationships, credit exposure, and treasury-related activitiesLead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting effortsPerform variance analysis and translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for leadershipPartner with operations and commercial teams to evaluate pricing, margins, and cost driversBuild financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic initiatives and capital investmentsSupport ongoing system and process improvements, including ERP enhancements and financial reporting toolsAct as a key bridge between accounting and business operations, providing financial clarity to support decision-makingEnsure financial processes and infrastructure scale effectively with company growthOther duties as assignedDirector of Finance and Accounting Skills and Abilities:Strong leadership experience managing accounting teams and developing staffAdvanced financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting capabilitiesAbility to interpret financial data and provide actionable business insightsStrong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and risk managementExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadershipHigh level of attention to detail and organizational skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP system experience strongly preferredDirector of Finance and Accounting Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredCPA or equivalent certification preferred8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership rolesExperience in industries such as commodities, energy, manufacturing, or similar environments preferredProven experience overseeing accounting operations with exposure to budgeting and forecasting processesExperience supporting financial systems, ERP implementations, or process improvements is a plusDirector of Finance and Accounting - Immediate need.
