The organization aims to cultivate disciplined team players, creative thinkers, and confident communicators through transformative theatrical experiences.Role DescriptionThis is a part-time on-site role for a Nonprofit Bookkeeper at HITS Theatre in Houston, TX. This role focuses on the documentation and processing for all types of financial transactions. This position requires a rock star at entering data into spreadsheets and bookkeeping software, compiling reports, gathering and organizing bank statements, highlighting discrepancies in company records, and researching possible reasons for errors or differences in expected versus actual account balances. HITS Theatre's bookkeeper might also handle basic administrative duties for the Executive Director and often assist other team members as needed with financial knowledge and oversight.Core ResponsibilitiesEntering all transactions into QuickBooks Online from digital and paper receiptsRecord and pay accounts payable, maintain vendor les, Issue invoices to and collect from customers, maintain customer filesCollect information as needed for the annual audit/ financial reviewCalculate pay and issue payments to employees, maintain employee/personnel filesCreate financial statements for funders and grant reports, provide reports to the Board of Directors upon request, adhere to and uphold the policies in the Accounting PolicyPrep deposits or take deposits to the bank, reconcile bank accounts and petty cash accountsRemit payroll taxes, sales taxes, use taxes, and income taxesAccount for fixed assets, calculate depreciation costs, and enter into QuickBooksQualificationsFinancial Statements and Bookkeeping skillsProficiency in QuickBooks Online SoftwareExperience with Journal Entries (Accounting)Attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentKnowledge of nonprofit accounting practices is a mustBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldWORK SCHEDULE: 3 days per week 10am-3pm (Time and days are negotiable, but consistency and reliability are appreciated).
