Position Type: Special Education-Certified Date Posted: 5/28/2026 Location: Special Services Date Available: 2026-2027 Closing Date: 06/10/2026 SALARY: Certified Teacher Salary Scale DEPARTMENT: Special Services LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 190 Days QUALIFICATIONS:Master's DegreeSouth Carolina speech therapy teacher certificationCertificate of Clinical CompetenceAt least 3-5 years as a speech therapistSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableAssistive Technology Experience IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Special Education Coordinator JOB SUMMARY: To provide support to speech therapists in reducing or eliminating speech impediments that interfere with students' ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates and oversees the district's assistive technology program, facilitating the AT meetings, keeping track of the referrals, organizing the AT library, checking out/checking in AT equipment, overseeing referrals, consulting with the IEP teams for AT evaluations and implementation of device use, and training in the area of evaluations, device types, and implantation of device use in therapy and the classroom.Communicates the district's goals regarding the utilization of assistive technology-school- based to home communication.Attends conferences and meeting regarding future trends in assistive technology as it relates to enhancing communication skills.Assists and guides therapists with the assessment and diagnosis of suspected voice, speech and language impairments.Assists therapists with the development of appropriate therapy goals to meet student needs and correct existing speech or language disabilities.Assists therapists with proper referrals of students to outside agencies, specialists, consultants and related services as appropriate.Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to school personnel on topics concerning speech improvement.Assists therapists with record-keeping for students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.Assumes responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.Provides service to students at the RTF and Group Home in the District.Prepares and administers the annual budget for speech therapy testing materials.Supervises monthly Medicaid billing.Supervises induction speech therapists.Mentors Speech Language Pathologists new to the district.Supervises Speech Language Pathologist Assistants, Practicums, Interns, Speech Language Therapists, and Clinical fellows.Performs all other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
