TITLE: Dual Credit Adjunct InstructorDEPARTMENT: Dual CreditREPORTS TO: Director, Dual Credit ProgramEFFECTIVE DATE: TBDEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-timeEMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: ExemptPRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:The Adjunct Instructor (non-tenure track) will teach college-level courses through Kentucky State University's Dual Credit Program. Courses will be delivered to high school students enrolled in participating school districts. A Master's degree in the relevant content area, or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline being taught, is required. Instructors must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and support for diverse student populations in a college-preparatory context.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:To provide high-quality instruction in assigned subject areas as part of the Dual Credit Program in accordance with Kentucky State University curriculum standards and dual credit guidelines.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Teach assigned dual credit course(s) in discipline(s) such as English, Math, Science, Social Studies,Speech Communications/Mass Communications, or other approved areas, in accordance with university-approved syllabi and learning outcomesDeliver instruction in various formats including face-to-face, hybrid, or online as appropriateCoordinate with dual credit program administrators, high school liaisons, and department chairs to ensure course alignment and student supportProvide timely feedback and assessment of student progress, and submit grades according to university policyUse the university's learning management system and communication platforms to support instruction and maintain recordsMaintain professional standards in instruction, record-keeping, and communicationOTHER DUTIES:Perform other duties as assigned.Duties may evolve based on university or programmatic needsQUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree in the teaching discipline, or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant content area (required)Experience teaching high school, dual credit, or college-level courses preferredStrong commitment to academic excellence and student-centered teachingFamiliarity with online instructional tools and learning management systems preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:Strong knowledge of subject matterExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to engage and motivate high school students in a college-level environmentAbility to collaborate effectively with both KSU and high school faculty/staffTechnological proficiency, including Microsoft Office and learning management systemsCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educationSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods during instruction or office hoursAbility to operate a computer and other office or classroom equipmentAbility to communicate effectively and professionally in written and verbal formAbility to organize course materials, manage grading responsibilities, and meet academic deadlinesWork is typically performed in a high school or university classroom setting, with some responsibilities completed remotely or via digital platformsOccasional travel to high school partner sites may be requiredApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
