Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and building scalable processes that support the firm’s Business Plan. The Controller partners closely with senior leadership and project principals to ensure financial visibility and operational alignment across offices.This position follows a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office. Candidates may be based in the Bay Area or other Degenkolb office locations, including: Los Angeles, Orange, Sacramento, or San Diego, CA; or Seattle, WA.Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a seasoned finance and accounting leader with deep experience managing multi-entity, project-based financial operations who brings both strategic insight and operational rigor. They are adept at translating complex financial data into actionable guidance, while continuously improving systems, processes, and team performance.Compensation and Benefits: The pay rate for this position ranges between $150,000 and $220,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to pay transparency laws. This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making, managing audits annually, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.ResponsibilitiesExpands financial reporting and analysis to support firmwide decision-making. Drives process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives. Establishes and improves standardized procedures, internal controls, and reporting practices. Oversees month-end close, including consolidation of multiple entities, financial statements, and audit coordination in accordance with GAAP.
