School Bus Driver-(Yellow Bus)-(SY25-26)

***POSITION WILL REMAIN POSTED UNTIL FILLEDPOSITION OVERVIEW:A School Bus Driver interacts daily with children and serves as their trusted transportation to and from school. As such, a School Bus Driver should be free of any traffic or criminal violations and should have an authoritative, yet calming demeanor and a strong understanding of traffic laws.ESSENTIAL DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Transport children and other passengers to and from schoolObey all traffic lawsMaintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all timesEnsure the safety of all studentsVerify permissions for children who ride home with friendsAssist students with getting on and off the bus as neededDiscipline children as needed to maintain a safe environmentPerform inspections of the bus before and after each routeAttend safety meetings as required QUALIFICATIONS:Hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) EndorsementHold a valid School Bus (S) Endorsement, preferred; SPS will provide trainingCurrent authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.TERMS: This is a 10 month, 1.0 FTE position.The Scituate Public Schools have a commitment to maintaining an educational environment and workplace that establishes programs and support mechanisms to recruit and retain staff and ensure appropriate staffing levels that meet the needs of all students through a highly qualified and diverse workforce.
