Carilion is a physician-led, collaborative, interdisciplinary Integrated Healthcare Delivery System with a common philosophy of patients first.Job DescriptionAnesthesiologist Faculty Opportunities - Carilion Clinic & Virginia Tech Carilion School of MedicineRoanoke VirginiaOpportunities Include:Obstetrical Care, Critical Care, and Core Faculty.Carilion Clinic Department of Anesthesia and Virginia Tech Carilion (VTC) School of Medicine is accepting applications for Anesthesiologists to join our team in beautiful Roanoke, Virginia.This is an exciting time to join our team as we develop a new Anesthesia Residency Program targeted to begin in Summer 2026.Clinical responsibilities include patient care in the Anesthesia Department at Carilion Medical Center (CMC), an 835-bed tertiary academic health center. CMC is one of the largest and busiest Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma centers in the region with 49 anesthetizing locations and NORA rooms. Our faculty fosters robust academic programming while keeping foremost Carilion Clinic's mission of providing excellent care to its community.The position includes an appointment at Virginia Tech in the tenure track at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Professor based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Research interest with Fralin Biomedical Research Institute-VT is supported.Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures, monitoring vital signs, and adjusting dosages as necessaryEnsure the comfort and safety of patients before, during, and after anesthesia administrationCollaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to create individualized anesthesia plans for patientsEvaluate patients' medical history, pre-operative assessments, and laboratory results to determine the appropriate anesthesia methodManage anesthesia-related emergencies and complications, providing immediate and appropriate interventionDocument all aspects of patient care, including anesthesia administration, patient response, and vital signsStay updated on the latest developments and advancements in anesthesia techniques and medications, continuously improving knowledge and skillsMinorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities/Sexual Orientation/Gender IdentityQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institutionCompletion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology ResidencyABA Board certification or Board eligibilityStrong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, medications, and equipmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teamsExceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, particularly in high-pressure situationsAdditional Information
