PEWITT CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICTEmployment Opportunities for 2026-27Position Title: Theater TeacherPosition Type: Part Time, 10-monthPrimary Purpose:Direct and manage the theater arts program at assigned campus. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and provide an opportunity to participate in extracurricular theater. Enable students to develop competencies and skkills to function successfully in society.QualificationsEducation/Certification:Bachelor's degree in from an accredited college or universityValid Texas teaching certificateDemonstrated competency in theater artsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of overall operation of theater arts, productions, and programsKnowledge of curriculum and instructionKnowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rulesAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorAbility to interpret dataStrong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:* Student teaching or approved internship and theater arts experienceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional StrategiesProvide instruction and leadership to students in all aspects of theater productions and methodologies such as staging, acting techniques, set design, costumes, and propsEstablish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in the programProvide for theater arts participation at extracurricular events and showsCoordinate rehearsals, productions, and performancesWork copperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)Student Growth* Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing* Be a positive role model for students and support mission of the school districtCommunication, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.* Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community membersProgram ManagementDevelop and administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wiselyCoordinate fundraising activities and manage fundsmaintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the programOversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of all equipmentOther* Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressureAdditional Information:4-Day School WeekSmall school atmosphereStrong community supportCompetitive salary and benefitsAN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERPewitt CISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability.
